Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Clarity application, website, and related services (together, the "Service"), operated from Florida, United States ("Clarity", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Clarity is a personal finance tool. It aggregates financial account data you choose to connect, tracks spending and net worth, produces forecasts, and includes Sterling, an AI assistant that answers questions about your data.

Clarity is not a bank, broker-dealer, investment adviser, credit counselor, tax preparer, or law or accounting firm. Access to your connected accounts is read-only: the Service cannot move, hold, or transfer your money.

All content produced by the Service — including responses, reports, forecasts, scores, and categorizations generated by Sterling or any other feature — is provided for informational purposes only. It is not financial, investment, tax, accounting, or legal advice, and it is not a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any asset or to take or refrain from any financial action.

AI-generated output can be incomplete or wrong. Verify important figures against your financial institution's records, and consult a licensed professional before making significant financial decisions. You are solely responsible for decisions you make based on the Service.

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials, and for all activity under your account. You may only connect financial accounts that you own or are authorized to access.

Parts of the Service require a paid subscription. New subscribers receive a free introductory trial (currently 14 days) when starting a plan; unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the subscription begins automatically and the payment method on file is charged.

Subscriptions purchased in the iOS app are billed through your Apple ID and governed by Apple's terms; they renew automatically until cancelled in your device's subscription settings at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Prices, plan features, and AI-credit allowances are shown at purchase and may change with notice; changes apply from your next billing period. AI usage is metered in credits as described on the plan screen. Except where required by law or by Apple's refund policies, payments are non-refundable.

The Service connects to your financial institutions through Plaid Inc. By using the Service you acknowledge that your data will be processed by Plaid in accordance with the Plaid End User Privacy Policy. We also rely on other processors (hosting, database, AI, and billing providers) as described in our Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for outages or errors originating with your financial institution or third-party providers.

You agree not to:

• use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
• connect accounts you are not authorized to access;
• probe, disrupt, reverse-engineer, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service;
• resell the Service or use automated means to extract data at scale;
• abuse AI features, including attempts to manipulate them into producing harmful output.

You retain all rights to your financial data. You grant us a limited license to process it solely to operate and improve the Service for you, as described in the Privacy Policy. Your data is never used to train AI models. The Service itself — software, design, branding, and content we create — is owned by Clarity and protected by intellectual-property laws.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT DATA (INCLUDING BALANCES, TRANSACTIONS, FORECASTS, AND AI OUTPUT) WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CLARITY WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, SAVINGS, OR DATA, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE — INCLUDING DECISIONS MADE IN RELIANCE ON AI OUTPUT. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE (OR $50 IF YOU HAVE PAID NOTHING). SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THESE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

You agree to indemnify and hold Clarity harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms.

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these Terms or to protect the Service or its users. Sections that by their nature should survive (including 3, 8, 9, 10, and 11) survive termination.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email, and the "Last updated" date above will change. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Florida, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
